60 x $200 Campaign: 60 people giving $200 Dollars. 3 Weeeks. I need 60 people to give $200 in 3 weeks so that I can raise $12,000. Why? I have been chosen to document the Gambine Education Pilot Program (for couldyou.org, The Ministry of Education and the Chissano foundation) as well as train citizen Journalists and work for @Verdade which is the largest newspaper in Mozambique. The project in total will be just under a month. If 60 people simply donate $200 my project will be funded in full. All Size donations are welcome and the most helpful thing is passing this campaign along to someone who can give. This won't happen without you! Let's all work together! Thanks!

Why Mozambique?

According to the United Nations Human Development Index which measures a country's welfare based on factors like education and infant mortality rate Mozambique has a country rank of 185 out of 187 , making it the third poorest country in the world.66% of the country is illiterate and 44% of the kids under the age of 5 were so malnourished they were debilitated. Fortunately, as Helen Keller once stated, although the world is full of suffering, it is also full of the overcoming of it.
Couldyou.org, in partnership with the Chissano Foundation, is working to overcome the education gap in Mozambique. CouldYou? is a non-profit that provides innovative, individually tailored immersion programs in Mozambique that give people an authentic local experience while helping individuals find their own unique contribution to impacting poverty. It is about investment and partnership, rather than aid. (please read the powerpoint presentation here for more info docs.google.com/file/d/0By-JYOF8FlwCaGFvdVBoaThsVVE/edit?... )

How Long is this campaign?

3 weeks. Ending the Week of June 10th.

What would I be doing?

I would be documenting the Gumbane Education Pilotproject for CouldYou? and the Chissano Foundation as well as spend 5 days with Erik Charas and Verdade working with his citizen reporters. This campaign is an important part of history but more importantly its an important part in the lives of the children in Mozambique. The children of that particular region will be changed for the rest of their lives by getting a decent education. The ultimate goal is true transformation of a national education system through true partnership with the West, which ultimately will be changing lives. Its a no brainer for me and a dream of mine to be a part of something like this. Ive wanted to do something like this ever since I picked up a camera. It would be a dream training citzen journalists for Verdade youtu.be/CylkFTAZXtM which is the largest newspaper in Mozambique. Verdade is the voice of the voiceless in that region. Its the paper for the poor. To be able to play such a small role in the sea of history is humbling.
If you support me you would be walking in solidarity with them. By supporting me you would be helping silence the hammer of injustice. I will only play a small role but I think even small acts can change the current of history. If 60 people gave a mere $200 my campaign would be fully funded! You would be helping the children of Mozambique, sparking one persons dream and igniting a journey. Thanks for believing in me enough to give.
